Tips for Quick Comfort

If you need a little comfort but don’t have a lot of time to get there, these tips and ideas will help you feel better in no time!

  1. Use pre-cooked meat for a shortcut to comfort. Swanson® Premium Chunk Chicken Breast or store-bought rotisserie chicken are real time-savers when making classics like chicken noodle soup or pot pie. And rather than making a pot pie crust from scratch, use a Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry sheet—speedy and delicious!
  2. Top baked potatoes or freshly baked biscuits (use ones in a tube from the refrigerated section) with quick-cooking chili topped with purchased guacamole or pimiento cheese from your grocery store’s deli section. Or pour piping hot Campbell’s® Chunky™ soups over baked or mashed potatoes, biscuits or cooked rice for an inexpensive, hearty spin on comfort food.
  3. Refrigerated biscuits in a tube aren’t just for baking! They make fantastic dumplings and cook in just minutes. Simply roll the dough into small balls and drop them into a simmering soup or stew, then cover the pot and cook until the dumplings are firm.
  4. Speed up prep time of classic beef stew by using frozen vegetables or prepared vegetables (such as cooked cubed potatoes) from the produce section. Or make an even quicker beef stew by adding cubed leftover roast beef or pork to Campbell’s Chunky Vegetable soup.
  5. Remember: smaller items cook faster, so try making miniature versions of things like meatloaf. Mini meatloaves cooks in about half the time of a full-size recipe!
  6. Everyone loves lasagna but it takes so long to make, right? Not this version! With just five ingredients (and convenient Prego® sauce) it comes together in no time. For an even speedier supper, try this stovetop version made in a skillet!
  7. Use Pace® Chunky Salsa to kick up the flavor of tomato soup. And instead of serving the soup with grilled cheese sandwiches, make simple quesadillas using your favorite cheese.
